Awards
The Women Are Worthy organization will sponsor instruction and support to women to assist in increasing their self-esteem and encourage them to initiate their power within to positively impact families and society.
Women Are Worthy will host seminars, workshops, symposiums; coordinate mentoring and community support volunteer opportunities. As programs develop and become available for reviewing and or registration this page will be updated.
January 2015 - Mother Brandon received The Eagle Unsung Hero Award, at the National Leadership Breakfast from Bishop Macklin for her outstanding work with the NBA, WAW, State Supervisor, Prevent Child Abuse, Homeless shelter and Cancer Society.
May 2015 - Mother Brandon was the first to purchase a ticket for the Prayer Breakfast at the 65th International Women's Convention/Crusade.
June 2015 - Portland Parks & Recreation will kicked-off its Summer Free For all program Thursday, June 27, at Peninsula Park. The celebration also doubles as a centennial birthday party for the North Rosa Parks Way park and recreation center. The bureau had a full day of events planned in Peninsula Park, that started with the centennial and ended with a showing of Madagascar 3 at dark. They also served free lunches for kids.
Portland’s Teen Idols performed, as did four circus troupes and the NoPo Big Band. Boom Arts performed Tunde’s Trumpet, a live puppet musical by award-winning playwright Chisa Hutchinson. Blaze the Trail Cat, the Portland Trail Blazers mascot, made an appearance. And celebration featured a bouncy house, a rock climbing wall and arts and crafts. If the promised penguin parade wasn't event enough, the bureau will also debuted a documentary shot and directed by teens earlier this year. The teens spent nine weeks in March and April interviewing park experts and shooting scenic shots of the city's oldest rose garden. The Summer Free For All program continued for several months, bringing concerts, movies and free lunches to the city’s parks. |
